Ole Miss AD Keith Carter isn't fooling anyone with his Lane Kiffin Egg Bowl update

This is beyond frustrating.

As much as Ole Miss football fans have love for Lane Kiffin, this is getting beyond ridiculous. Instead of all the attention going to the incredible season the Rebels are having, everyone is fully on 'Kiffin watch' moving forward, as he's dancing with three different programs.

Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss put a meeting on the books that could solve everything

News broke that Kiffin was having a Friday meeting with athletic director Keith Carter, and the hope was that everything would be resolved by the end of the day. Instead, Ole Miss, Florida and LSU fans now have to wait an extra week.

Carter let everyone know that he had a great meeting with Kiffin, but his final decision for where he will be in 2026 will have to wait until the Saturday after the Egg Bowl. Come on. Does Carter really expect everyone is going to just stay calm and focus on that game after releasing this statement?

Lane Kiffin's decision on his future will come the day after the Egg Bowl

Hey Ole Miss fans, your head coach might leave for Florida or LSU, but let's not worry about that and just focus on taking down Mississippi State! Give us a break, Keith. This also is a rough look for Kiffin, as he continues to drag his feet with a life-changing call.

On one hand, sure, maybe Kiffin is planning to stay and he's going to surprise us all with an incredible announcement the day after (hopefully) an Ole Miss win. However, nothing that's been going on of late gives people too much confidence that's going to be the end result.

LSU and Florida are reportedly ready to break the bank to poach Kiffin. Everyone has been on 'flight watch' like crazy this week to see if Kiffin or his family are in Baton Rouge, Oxford or Gainesville. Do you see what we're talking about here?

This is the main focus surrounding Ole Miss instead of what should be a strong close to the regular season, plus a trip to the College Football Playoff. It's of course not an easy call for Kiffin and his loved one, but playing up the theatrics doesn't help anything. Carter isn't making anything better by allowing this all to continue. Maybe Carter knows Kiffin is staying, but we seriously doubt that's the case right now.
