Rounding out the Ole Miss baseball Infield: Who will Play 1B, 2B and 3B for the Rebs?

Outside of the SS position, the rest of the infield is pretty much set for the Rebels heading into 2025. All three players, Luke Hill, Will Furniss, and Judd Uttermark, are important leaders for the team and will hold spots in the heart of the order.

Third Base - Judd Uttermark

This name might initially surprise people as a lock for the lineup because the first two years for Uttermark have been far from stellar. However, there are numerous reasons to be excited for what could be a huge junior breakout season.

Uttermark was a top-ranked prospect with projectable size and power to play the corner infield or outfield. Some expected him to play considerably as a freshman but it didn’t quite come for him in the first year. He hit just .135 with an OPS of .477. Uttermark followed this up with an improved season last year, but not a great one. With a slash line of .230/.313/.440 with an OPS of ~.750, it was a marketed improvement. He also showed significant signs of positional versatility, playing four different positions.

However, when star 3B Andrew Fisher backtracked on his commitment to the Rebels, electing to enter the transfer portal, Judd Uttermark became all the more important to this year's team and his development into being the player he can be will be crucial.

Uttermark has also taken on an increased leadership role and is certainly a top contender to be named a captain. Judd turned in an incredible fall. He led the team in a ton of offensive stats including home runs with eight and RBIs, driving in 16. He also posted an astonishing .896 slugging percentage and OPS of 1.349. He also added in 12 stolen bases. Uttermark will be a cornerstone for the Rebels this year, most likely manning the hot corner and batting 2nd or 3rd.
