South Carolina football head coach Shane Beamer will be vying for a redemption game against Ole Miss this Saturday as a 3-5 team.
As Beamer and his team head up to the Grove, they will be coming prepared to pull a major upset against the Rebels, after they almost pulled an equally big one against Alabama last Saturday; almost.
With that, Beamer is also coming prepared for the whole Lane Kiffin experience.
Throughout the past few weeks, Kiffin has been growing more and more popular for his pre-game drama. His exchanges with Kirby Smart created the most buzz, while he also had some bold comments for Oklahoma's Brent Venables ahead of their game last week.
So this time, without waiting for Kiffin to make any comments, Beamer decided to do the honors of commenting on him first, and praising him for "who he is."
Shane Beamer comes clean on Lane Kiffin's antics
"I think everybody's been on the other side of the barbs. Whatever, he is who he is, which I appreciate. I think he is very genuine," Beamer said in his press conference on Monday previewing Ole Miss when asked about Kiffin.
"And I think he would be the first to tell you I don't know him well, but just haven't gotten to know him over the few years I've been in the league as the head coach. He's just very real."
Beamer also mentioned how Kiffin keeps the SEC coaches group chat lively, which sounds exactly like Kiffin.
"He definitely keeps the SEC coaches group chats we're on, he definitely keeps them entertaining and lively with stuff that he may send on there, tweets that he has seen or whatever it might be. He keeps it entertaining for sure, but he is who he is and I've got a lot of respect for him from that standpoint."
"He's a brilliant offensive mind, got a lot of respect for him, what he's done at that program because I've been to Mississippi State as an assistant coach and have been familiar with the Ole Miss program from being in Mississippi when I coached there and seeing what he's done with that program, but doing it his way and staying true to himself has been pretty cool to see."
We'll see whether Kiffin has anything to reply to that.
