The College Football Playoff committee disagreed with the AP Poll earlier, keeping Ole Miss ranked above Georgia. Both teams moved up two spots, with Tennessee and BYU slipping below them.

The Associated Press may not value the Rebels' dominant win over the Bulldogs. However, the CFP committee showed how impressed they were with the win despite Georgia beating Tennessee, which was ranked No. 7 this past weekend.

Ole Miss will stay ahead of Georgia if they win comfortably

Heading into the rankings, the question was how the committee would rank Alabama, Ole Miss, and Georgia. The question may not have been asked if the Week 13 AP Poll didn't move the Bulldogs above Ole Miss.

Ole Miss is ranked in front of Georgia, which shows how much the committee values the outcome of the Week 11 game between the two. Even the Bulldogs beating Tennessee by two scores wasn't enough to jump the Rebels with Lane Kiffin's team on a bye week.

Ole Miss sitting at No. 9 now means that if they handle their business against Florida and Mississippi State with zero scares, they will stay in front of Georgia, even if they win out.

The Bulldogs have UMass and Georgia Tech left to play, so no big teams to impact jumping above anybody if the rest win out. The Tennessee game could have been a factor, but the committee viewed it as insignificant and head-to-head records as important.

Ole Miss will be focused on Florida, knowing they control their destiny. Going 2-0 to end the season will get them into the College Football Playoffs.
