Ole Miss is all set on the College Football Playoff, no matter the coaching change.
Rebels' new head coach Pete Golding has put out a statement multiple times, and now, it's also coming from the players.
Trinidad Chambliss opens up on Pete Golding's transition
Ole Miss QB Trinidad Chambliss opened up on how Golding has stepped up after his promotion as the head coach.
"He’s been good. He’s really taken over the role. He’s very emotional, knows how to talk to a team and he’s doing great," Chambliss said Thursday.
Since Golding was previously the defensive coordinator, his interactions with the offensive side were limited. Chambliss explained how Golding is making up for that lack of communication.
“Throughout the season, I wouldn’t really converse with PG (Pete Golding) a lot, just obviously because he was a defensive coach, but I have had a couple meetings with him now and we’re on the right page for Tulane. We just want to have all our focus on Tulane.“
“I wouldn’t say it’s been hard. We just want to focus on the game, and the focus that the team has right now it’s just Tulane. We can’t really worry about other stuff right now, outside of football and what’s outside of the team. But yeah, we’re just really focused on Tulane, so we’re good.”
Although Golding already knows what Tulane is like, they can hardly be underestimated as the AAC Champions.
Golding has also decided to call the defense himself, and has appointed a new OC in JD Baker. While Baker takes his time learning the Ole Miss offense, they have Charlie Weis Jr. as the familiar coach on the offensive side.
All of it seems smooth-going for now with Ole Miss as the heavy favorite against the Green Wave, but the real test would be when this squad enters the gridiron on Dec. 20.
