Oxford is officially on hold. The Trinidad Chambliss vs. NCAA hearing is all set for Feb. 12, and Ole Miss is waiting to hear some good news on their QB returning for another season.
As the anticipation continues to heat up, predictions of what Chambliss's return could mean for Ole Miss are everywhere.
However, ON3's J.D. Pickell's take on it is something that Pete Golding and the whole of the Rebels' Nation would like to hear.
"They’re definitely challenging for Atlanta," Pickell said when asked about what Chambliss's return for 2026 means for Ole Miss.
"Without having their schedule in front off me, I would like to think they're in contention for it. Like the thing with Trinidad, last year in the Playoff game is like, he just took over that game against Georgia. It was 'We have Trinidad Chambliss, you don't. Therefore we're gonna win.' So like how repeatable is that with Kewan Lacy in the backfield you would like to think that is also gonna help them a good amount during the regular season," he continued.
"I'll say this: If he's playing college football next season, he's Top 5, if not Top 3 on this list. But from what I saw from him in that playoff run opened up a lot of our eyes to how good that guy truly is. And having another year and playing another year in college football like, they're the wild card of college football and the SEC."
How much better would Ole Miss be if Trinidad Chambliss returns?

There is little doubt about Chambliss absolutely dominating his next college season, if he gets another shot at it. Even make a good push for the Heisman Trophy and the National Championship while he's at it.
The only million-dollar question is whether the judge hearing Chambliss' case believes the QB indeed had a medical redshirt season.
We don;t have to wait much to know it, though.
