Ole Miss football could not have had a bigger win than Trinidad Chambliss returning for another year.

But, will it be the same as 2025?

When Chambliss filled in Austin Simmons' shoes at QB1 last season, no one really knew what he was. For a D1 program, he was simply a DII transfer filling in the starting spot until Simmons returns.

His style was majorly unkown, despite tapes from Ferris State. At Ole Miss, he had the type of development that prompts a heroic arc for the books.

However, now that he is returning after an unprecedented season, teams have tapes on him. They know how he plays, what he excels at, and the chinks in his armor.

Trinidad Chambliss's superpower to be his kryptonite?

Alabama's former three-time national champion QB AJ McCarron details why that familiarity could turn out to be Chambliss's kryptonite this season.

"I don't think Trinidad's wrong by any means. I mean, what the kid's shown has been unbelievable. He also didn't play a full season, and your second year as a starter is your toughest year because teams actually have film on you and know how to play you now," McCarron said.

"So it's going to be interesting to see, once teams have a full off-season, to see and break down film on what this kid struggles at."

That said, Chambliss is considered the top returning QB of 2026. Pete Golding's squad has a serious advantage with Chambliss on their side, and McCarron's co-host thinks it would make all the difference for the Rebs, even with a completely new staff.

“He’s special, man. He can do stuff with his legs, he can make stuff happen in the pocket, he’s not scared to take a hit, he’s smart enough to stay in place. Having a guy like that, he can hit the target, too. Having a guy like that is different," McCarron's co-host Trent Richardson said.

In the end, it all comes down to all comes down to how quick, and how well OC John Baker can crack the code of Chambliss’s skill set. Considering he has Golding on his side who has been with Chambliss for quite a while now, it won't be that tough.
