Unfortunately for Ole Miss, Lane Kiffin has regressed to his old self regarding other opportunities

It's a tough stretch for Ole Miss, navigating the thick of the Lane Kiffin to Florida rumors.

Ole Miss fans hadn't even properly reeled in the celebrations of a 34-24 revenge win over Florida, as the storm of inside sources cautioning the Rebel nation to await something unexpected took the joy out of it.

Kiffin claims it isn't creating distractions for their team, but everyone cannot stop doing a double take on the whole 'will he or won't he' drama.

And the worst part is that the Rebels are just about to make it to the College Football Playoff after a 12-season delay, and it has been left in the shade.

The solution is simple, really

The Ole Miss fans won't be able to focus on their team going to the Playoffs when they are on pins and needles about their head coach leaving them in the middle of it all.

Frustratingly, Kiffin isn't saying anything about it either. The vagueness in his answers to anything related to the rumors is making it worse.

"Basically, it's a policy we have of how we don't talk about it (during the season) and we never have," Kiffin says, justifying his ambiguity. For what it's worth, it will not ease anything.

Given his history with Tennessee, no words from Kiffin will directly mean more smoke, and the rumors will only intensify until the fire is found.

The simplest way out for Kiffin would be to draw a line: "No talking to other teams until after the playoffs."

If he wants to leave Oxford later, he would still have teams waiting for him.

Just putting off all talks until the postseason ends for Ole Miss will help them avoid games where they struggle even against the easiest teams on their schedule, like Washington State.

Ole Miss cannot afford any more noise distracting them, especially when they're just one Egg Bowl win away from facing the toughest teams in the nation.

We can only sit tight and see how long the Kiffin show stretches.
