The 2026 class is barely out the door, but Ole Miss RB Kewan Lacy is already firmly on the radar as the prize of 2027.
Highly touted as the top RB of the class of 2027, Lacy is already a Round 1 favorite in the way-too-early 2027 mock drafts.
Kewan Lacy generating massive 2027 NFL Draft buzz
CBS Sports' mock drafts have him as a Top 15 overall prospect.
Blake Brockermeyer has Laxy as No. 15 overall in his way-too-early 2027 mock drafts:
"Kewan Lacy was a game-changer, rushing for nearly 1,300 yards and 20 touchdowns with 37 explosive runs last season. He excels as a north-south runner with good contact balance and cutback ability, and he also caught 25 passes. He could be RB1 in 2026," Brockermeyer writes.
Brad Crawford, on the other hand, compares Lacy's talent to Jeremiyah Love and jadarian Prince from this cycle. Lacy clearly has that potential to go off the board as RB1.
"Notre Dame's Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price were the two first-round picks at the position this cycle, and there's a chance the SEC produces a Day 1 pair next spring. Lacy has the kind of explosiveness that immediately translates, and he'll be featured in a system that maximizes space and tempo. Lacy's decisive with the ball, shows burst through the hole and has the long speed to finish runs. What stands out is his ability to create chunk plays without needing perfect blocking," Crawford writes.
Make no mistake, all the early hype is based on merely the single breakout season Lacy had at Ole Miss in 2025. The entire 2026 season is yet to play out, and knowing the ceiling Lacy has set, it won't be shocking to see him as a potential Top 5 pick.
