Loaded With Weapons

It’s no big secret Ole Miss football  is loaded with talented players on both sides of the ball. Of course, if Ole Miss expects to have a legitimate shot at the win over Alabama football then they have to utilize their play-makers. On offense, the Rebels have Shea Patterson and arguably one of the best receiving corps in the nation.

Shea Patterson leads the SEC in completions, attempts, passing yardage and TDs. He has the talent and the arm to beat Bama and also has the weapons. AJ Brown should be back for the game after a bye-week to recover from a sprained knee. Along with Brown there is DaMarkus Lodge, DK Metcalf, Markell Pack and Van Jefferson. I also expect there to be more focus on utilizing Pennamon and Wilkins out of the backfield. Big-time players need to make big-time plays.

On defense, we know we have players who will make plays. At the Cal game we saw Marquis Haynes show up and play as we expect him to. We need to make sure DeMarquis Gates is in a position to continue to be the tackling machine he has been in recent weeks. CJ Moore and Myles Hartsfield will both need to have big games.

Alabama football is not pass-happy and will try to control the tempo of the game with a heavy dose of run. We know they have talented weapons on both sides of the ball and will use those weapons. It’s up to Ole Miss football to utilize ours early and often. If we take control early, use these keys and never take our foot off the gas then we have the advantage for the win.
