There aren’t many things Ole Miss football fans can bank on right now. However one certainty is the huge upcoming season for Marquis Haynes. Marquis has emerged as one of the greatest pass rushers in the SEC and now the nation.

Athlon recently released their preseason 2017 All-American Team and Ole Miss football was represented by Chuck Mullins Courage Award winner Marquis Haynes. The third-team selection comes as a huge surprise for many Rebel fans. Not because he made the list but even more so by the fact he wasn’t listed higher.

At 6’3″ and 225 lbs Marquis Haynes is relentless as a pass rusher. His speed and quickness off the snap gives him a first-step advantage which is incomparable. He is by far the toughest defensive end in the nation to try to block. His motor is always going and he never takes a play off.

More from Ole Miss Football

Marquis is literally a pass rush nightmare for TEs and OTs across the SEC and he has the career numbers to prove he is one of the best.

Per OleMissSports.com, Marquis Haynes has played in 38 games as a Rebel while recording 127 total tackles. Haynes has accounted for 24.5 sacks and 36.5 tackles for loss.

Haynes has forced 9 fumbles, had 3 fumble recoveries and 7 pass deflections. Oh yeah, he also has 1 interception. All this in just three seasons as a Ole Miss Rebel.

As a senior the Jacksonville, Florida native is set to have another outstanding season. Of course this season he will be wearing No.38 to honor the late Chucky Mullins.

Marquis Haynes is a leader both on and off the field. Marquis is also 1 of 42 NCAA players selected to the Lott IMPACT watch list earlier this spring. Congratulations Marquis Haynes and good luck going into your senior season as a Ole MIss Rebel.
