For many Ole Miss football fans the few weeks before National Signing Day is one of the best times of the year besides football season itself.
Like most Ole Miss football fans I really enjoy following the action of Ole Miss football recruiting. It’s the time of year when you see the future of your favorite football team. Of course, every year team after team jockey for the best and brightest recruits. Every year we’ve made our wish lists and kept our fingers crossed in hope of getting that special class.
Of course, we’ve seen from past recruiting seasons how certain teams are always at the top of the recruiting landscape. They are the teams which are loaded from top to bottom with 4 and 5-star recruits. For Ole Miss football recruiting it’s never been that easy although Ole Miss has seen some success in recent years. Now with NCAA sanctions to deal with the recruiting grind is expected to be tough for the Rebels once again.
Naturally this doesn’t weaken our zeal for Ole Miss recruiting. It doesn’t keep us from following our favorite prospects and constantly pulling up Rivals or Scout to see what the pundits have to say. No this is the time of year when it kicks us into over-drive. Of course, when we follow the recruiting pages we always check out the ‘crystal ball’ predictions about which big time recruits may choose Ole Miss.

Whether you are reading your favorite recruiting website or listening to your favorite podcast, you will get a lot of valuable info. You’ll hear about who is taking official visits and when of course. You’ll also get all the inside information on who is warm and getting warmer for your favorite school. Then you get the predictions.
Trust me, I love predictions. Especially when it comes to recruiting. Of course, like most predictions they are seldom correct unless an insider has some specific information from a reliable source or firsthand knowledge of what school a top target recruit may choose. And with some of these players we have no real way of knowing.
No I haven’t had much luck in the past with my own predictions however I have always enjoyed watching others make their recruiting picks. So we are at that time of the recruiting season where we peer into the Ole Miss football crystal ball. So what does National Signing Day hold for Ole Miss recruiting?
I believe we can count a few big surprises in the end. Coach Matt Luke and his staff certainly have surprised Rebel nation with what they have done with this recruiting class so far. We’ve Got Company!
Tis the season for official visits. We know who is coming and when so we know Ole Miss will be rocking for the prospects. This weekend there are a reported 26 top-target recruits scheduled to visit Ole Miss and Oxford. There were 12 prospects who made their visits this past weekend which we discussed earlier on OHT.
I believe Matt Luke knows he can sell Ole Miss football easily. With the facilities, the campus and the City of Oxford it’s not hard to attract top talent to Ole Miss. Of course, there are a number of players which will come to Oxford and fall in love with the idea of becoming a Rebel. Which ones will it be who choose to become Ole Miss Rebels?

It may be a recruit we’ve seen predicted by Ole Miss insiders to become Rebels. Or it may just be a player which we’ve personally hoped would ink with Ole Miss. We can’t be sure but we all have our eyes and ears on our favorites and hope for some great surprises.
