No.4 Ole Miss baseball was back in action Thursday night as they traveled to Tuscaloosa to take on the Crimson Tide in the last SEC series of the season.

Thursday night Ole Miss baseball (41-13, 16-11) was on the road taking on the Alabama Crimson Tide in game-one of the final SEC series of the 2018 season. Ole Miss was coming into the series off a midweek win over Arkansas State. The Rebels were riding a five game win streak which included a series sweep of No.16 Auburn. Alabama came into the series as the worst team in the SEC and only 7 conference wins on the season.

No SEC series is a gimme when it comes to baseball. Any team can win on any given day and Bama would prove to be a tough host in a tight game-one. After a scoreless 1st the Rebels got on the board first with 1 run in the top of the 2nd. The Tide answered with 1 run in the bottom of the 2nd to tie the game at 1-1.

The game stayed tied at 1-1 thru the 3rd but Ole Miss added 1 run in the top of the 4th to take the 2-1 lead. However, the Tide answered once again in the bottom of the 4th with 1 run to tie the game at 2-2. The game stayed tied at 2-2 thru the 5th when Ole Miss scored 1 run in the 6th to take the 3-2 lead which would prove to be enough for the Rebels in game-one.

The tight 3-2 win was enough to give the Rebels their 41st win on the season, which is a program best. The win also kept the Rebels in the final weekend grind for the SEC West title. Of course, we look at the game-one win by the numbers.
