Ole Miss football is now less than 10 weeks away and OHT has a few questions about this Rebels football team headed into 2018.

Summer is here and Ole Miss football is just on the horizon. As we anxiously await the opening kickoff we all have areas of concerns and questions about this team. Last season we watched as one of the most potent offenses in the SEC ran roughshod thru 2017 with few exceptions. Of course, there were still exceptions and now we have questions about 2018.

One of the biggest questions Ole Miss fans have on the offensive side of the ball is the ceiling for Phil Longo. Of course, we would all like to know just how good this offense is prior to taking the field. What we have to base our assumptions on is how productive the offense was last season. In 2017 the Ole Miss offense was one of the most prolific in the SEC. Phil Longo proved his offensive layout could produce in the SEC. This is a huge statement made.

When we say the Phil Longo is very effective we really are blowing Rebels smoke. This offense has proven to be very effective utilizing multiple weapons. Consider the leading wide receiver in the SEC in 2017 is returning. Last season junior AJ Brown was key in the .500 season the Rebels had. Brown had 75 catches for 1,252 yards and 11 TDs.

Of course, coach Phil Longo and coach Jacob Peeler have multiple weapons for quarterback Jordan Ta’amu to utilize. Also returning are junior DK Metcalf and senior DaMarkus Lodge. There are also two very capable tight-ends returning in Dawson Knox and Octavious Cooley who can be potential targets for Ta’amu.

Last season saw the Longo offense produce a 1,000 yard rusher in Jordan Wilkins. Wilkins is now gone but there is no reason to believe the Rebels won’t have another running-back to hit the 1,000 yard mark in 2018.

Of course, it all begins up front with one of the largest and most experienced offense lines in the nation. Behind All-American tackle Greg Little we can expect to see this Rebels offense put up huge numbers thru the air and on the ground in 2018.

Next: Highly Anticipated!

Expect Fireworks

The Ole Miss offense is sure to be the best in the SEC and Rebels fans can expect to see Jordan Ta’amu put up gaudy numbers. How well they do against the SEC defenses should be fun to watch this season. The Rebels will kickoff their season on September 1st as they travel to Houston, Texas to take on the Red Raiders of Texas Tech. Are you ready? Hotty Toddy!
