Success In Run Game

Alabama has a very good run defense and have shown it thru the first two games of the season. However, they may have not seen an offensive line quite this good. Ole Miss can boast one of the biggest, most experienced and talented offensive lines in the nation and have used it. So far the Rebels have rushed the ball 60 times for 408 yards averaging 6.3 yards per carry. JUCO transfer Scottie Phillips leads the SEC in rushing with 311 yards on just 31 carries and 4 rushing TDs.

Should the Rebels find success in the run game Saturday it will allow the Ole Miss passing game to open up. It will force Bama to load the box and put the Tide secondary in man coverage. Success in the run game will also put a kink in Saban’s plan of stuffing the run against Ole Miss. Right now the run Bama defense has been solid and Saban is banking on the Rebels being no serious threat when Ole Miss runs the ball Saturday. A good Rebels run game will also keep the Tide offense off the field.
