Coach Kermit Davis and Ole Miss basketball will be back in action Tuesday night as they host the No.6 Kentucky Wildcats in Oxford.

Coach Kermit Davis and Ole Miss basketball (19-10, 9-7) will be looking for their twentieth win of the season Tuesday night as they face No.6 Kentucky (24-5, 13-3) in The Pavilion. The Rebels enter the midweek matchup coming off a 74-73 road loss at Arkansas. Kentucky enters Oxford coming off a 71-52 loss at No.7 Tennessee.

Of course, Kentucky really needs no introduction. We clearly know the Wildcats are a very well-coached and talented team. The Wildcats are sitting at No.3 in the SEC and their only SEC losses have come to Alabama, LSU and Tennessee. Kentucky’s other two losses came in the season opener to Duke and later to Seton Hall. OHT looks at some of the Wildcats key players.

Washington also leads the Wildcats in 3-point field goal percentage hitting 43.5% of his shots from beyond the arc. Washington is also the Wildcats leading rebounder averaging 7.7 boards per game.

Sophomore forward Nick Richards leads the Wildcats in field goal percentage making 56.7% of his shots from the field. Richards also leads the Wildcats in blocks averaging 1.5 swats per game. Richards averages 3.8 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. Freshman guard Ashton Hagans leads the Wildcats in assists and steals averaging 4.3 assists and 1.9 steals per game.

Observations

Despite the Rebels past two close losses to Tennessee and Arkansas the Rebels are poised to get their twentieth win. The Rebels are playing good basketball but sadly have fallen just short in the past two games. The Rebels have proven they can play with top-ranked teams but will have to have a complete performance if they hope to get the win over Kentucky in Oxford.
