The Ole Miss Rebels are in a sweet spot to end their season as a one loss team with an 11-1 record.

Currently 8-1, the Rebels' remaining three games have them listed as the heavy favorites to win. If they handle that part well, they shouldn't worry much about their final position in the 2025 CFP rankings.

Because besides their wins, their single loss would also be making a case for the Rebels to be ranked higher.

Ole Miss's single loss is actually good news

On3 analyst J.D. Pickell debated that Ole Miss's single loss of the season against Georgia would actually look good on their resume, and might be a point that the committee takes into consideration when discussing the program's final rankings.

"They said this on the broadcast, but I think it was a good point. I think Ole Miss has arguably the best-looking loss in college football," Pickell explained on his show, The Hard Count.

"Ole Miss was up nine in the second half against Georgia. You could argue that Ole Miss has been better than Georgia, even though they lost to Georgia."

The Rebels pretty much dominated Georgia throughout the three quarters, before they let go of the game too soon to lose it by a single-score difference.

"So, this is again, this is not me standing on the table for Ole Miss, but based on the one loss they have, that one loss, I think probably is the most palatable relative to how you feel about Ole Miss and just them overall as a football team."

It was a wake-up call, almost a reality check they needed with an undefeated record then. Kiffin's squad learned their lesson, one that they will hold on to tightly heading into the college football playoff.

Not to forget that despite losing that week, Ole Miss still set plenty of surprising records in the face of the loss to Georgia.

And looking at their performance against Georgia, people would bet on them winning against even higher-ranked opponents down the CFP road.

Even the CFP committee will definitely be discussing the Georgia loss when deciding Ole Miss's final position in the 2025 CFP rankings.
