Lately, everything that Ole Miss fans considered as worst case scenarios have been turning into reality.

First it was their head coach ditching their program right before a College Football Playoff run, which seemed more like a reality than a rumor in the past week. All they needed was a confirmation.

They didn't get that either as promised on Saturday, which was another worst-case scenario turned true.

All while, Kiffin took another day to mull over his options between LSU and Ole Miss.

Saturday turned out to be equally indecisive for Kiffin as the past two weeks have been. The Rebels' head coach met up with AD Keith Carter at UM chancellor's house Saturday afternoon, then had a meeting with ESPN's Marty Smith, and yet, not a single update leaked throughout the day.

“Lane Kiffin and athletic director Keith Carter concluded their meeting some 90 or so minutes ago,” Smith said on ESPN.

“The sentiment here in Oxford is Kiffin’s unwillingness to commit is an indicator of his desire to go. I’m told that if he wanted to stay, he would have already said so."

Kiffin staying after the chaotic mess he created would make zero sense. The only thing holding him back is him wanting to finish the season with Ole Miss.

“One sticking point still being considered, I’m told, is if (Kiffin) did leave is whether or not he would coach the Rebels in the College Football Playoff.”

The Rebels, in no way, would bend to Kiffin's wish of letting him coach in the College Football Playoff if he picks LSU.

Plus, there's also a chance, based on how Iron Bowl turns out, that the Rebels could be headed to the SEC Championship this season.

If not the Playoff, then Kiffin could at least be making a case for coaching in the SEC Championship.

Only an official announcement can confirm or deny anything at this point.
