Here comes another Lane Kiffin update to spoil Ole Miss's College Football Playoff party.
The fans were just reeling in the feeling of pulling off an upset of the season over Georgia when an update from LSU ruined it.
Ole Miss might have to part ways with their staffers who have already signed with LSU sooner than they anticipated.
Ole Miss staff might be leaving sooner than expected
Word is Kiffin may recall his Oxford-based troops within the next few days—a move that could pull the rug out from under the Rebels before they even face Miami next week.
These are the same staffers that Kiffin promised to Ole Miss during their CFP run.
"Sources told ESPN on Thursday night that it remained unclear how many Ole Miss assistants, who are joining Kiffin at LSU, will be allowed to remain with the Rebels when they face No. 10 Miami next Thursday in a CFP semifinal at the Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Arizona," ESPN's Mark Salabach reported.
Were the situation to play out as rumored, things could go south in the blink of an eye for the Rebels. Worst part is, it will be at a time when they will be playing the game with the highest stakes in the program history.
Ole Miss offense could all but hit the wall without Charlie Weis Jr. and co-offensive coordinator Joe Cox, both of whom have signed their contracts with LSU. Along with them, WR/ pass rushing coach George McDonald and RB coach Kevin Smith will also be shifting bases.
"With the transfer portal opening Friday, sources told ESPN that the Rebels aren't certain they will have all of those assistants with them when they play the Hurricanes in six days," Salaback continued.
"There are going to be some fireworks," an Ole Miss source told ESPN. "We always knew this might be a possibility."
All that's left to be seen is whether it will be Ole Miss's or LSU's staff that goes up in flames.
