The Ole Miss star that saved Ole Miss on days when even Trinidad Chambliss ran out of fuel is finally getting the limelight he deserves.

As much as Oxford is thrilled about Trinidad Chambliss's return and him being the top returning player for the Rebels, it is brushing over what makes Chambliss's additional year that much more thrilling: the RB he is getting paired up with.

ESPN's Max Olson had Lacy as the "key" returning player in Pete Golding's squad. undisputed 'Bell Cow' of the Rebels' backfield."

ESPN has Kewan Lacy as Ole Miss's key returning player

"The tug-of-war battle between Ole Miss and LSU for Lacy began as soon as coach Lane Kiffin left for Baton Rouge and officially ended Jan. 5 when the Rebels re-signed the star running back for 2026," Olson writes.

"The first-team All-SEC performer enjoyed a monster year after transferring in from Missouri with 1,744 total yards and 24 touchdowns, and teamed with quarterback Trinidad Chambliss to help turn Ole Miss into a legitimate national title contender. Now they're both coming back for coach Pete Golding to try to build on last season's run to the CFP semifinals."

Lacy as their vital returning player this season got Ole Miss at No. 9 among the Top 25 teams in college football in Olson's list.

The Rebels fans know this is just the beginning of Lacy topping the list for Ole Miss.

Lacy is one of the very few crown jewels left from last season's CFP-caliber roster. Others like Cayden Lee and Princewill Umanmeilen transferred this offseason.

The RB is the meat and potatoes of the roster, the workhorse that keeps things moving even when the Rebels are deep in the trenches.

He and Chambliss, the top returning player of the roster, together on the field were the worst nightmare of top defences across the country. Now all that's left to see is if they can crack the code to being equally destructive in John Baker's offense this season.
