All the hype surrounding Cotie McMahon's WNBA draft is about to shoot through the roof as a potential blockbuster Ole Miss reunion might be around the corner on Monday.
The Washington Mystics drafted the first of Coach Yo's crown jewel, Shakira Austin, in 2022, and this time, they are projected to draft her second in four years.
ESPN's Michael Voepel predicted the Mystics snagging McMahon at No. 9 overall on April 13.
"McMahon will have to transition to be more of a perimeter player in the WNBA and improve her 3-point shooting. She has worked on that over the past two seasons. This year, after transferring to Ole Miss after three years at Ohio State, McMahon averaged a career-high 19.5 points and had a career-best 36 3-pointers. But she shot 28.6% from behind the arc. McMahon's physical style of play should translate well in the WNBA.
Placing McMahon beside their 2025 AP Comeback Player of the Year, who both come from the same Coach Yo era, would be a big-time winning move for Washington.
And there's much more to the Ole Miss reunion narrative.
Washington Mystics making moves for Rebel reunion
Washington just signed former Ole Miss star Madison Scott in a qualifying offer for 2026. Locking her in for the training camp just days before the WNBA Draft is a clear sign: they're in on the Rebel fever.
If they can snag McMahon early, they will have not one or two, but three Rebels clad in the Mystics gear.
Austin has set herself as the reliable veteran, and Scott impressed the team enough to get a qualifying offer. McMahon's career-high 19.5 PPG means she won't be just joining a roster; she could be stepping in as a key piece of a franchise-altering rebuild, led by the ex-Rebels.
The whole of Oxford would be looking out for Washington to call out McMahon's name on Monday.
