There is a slight chance that the Georgia Bulldogs will have it easier than anticipated vs. Ole Miss at the Sugar Bowl.
Ole Miss crushing Tulane in an electric 41-10 game came with a big bad news for them: Kewan Lacy's injury.
The star running back injured his shoulder in the second half, and so far, Pete Golding has not confirmed his availability for the game.
Not having to deal with the elite problem named Lacy will be a huge relief for Glenn Schumann's defense after he finished the regular season with 1,366 yards rushing and 21 touchdowns.
Georgia DC on Kewan Lacy injury
Schumann, however, is not willing to take any chance this point of the season. So he is sticking to preparing with Lacy a very viable threat.
“If he’s available, like I assume he will be, that’s gonna be a big part of the game,” Schumann told reporters on Saturday.
“He’s forced the most missed tackles in the country. So I think, and in general, their offense, they have a lot of guys who make guys miss. But when you have a guy that forces, I believe, it said on the broadcast, the game the other day, we were able to watch it because of how the schedule worked, said his first missed tackle that he forced on that opening touchdown was his 100th forced missed tackle of the year, right?"
"So we’re talking about somebody that can have a player unblocked, right? And it would make them miss. They’re just adding yards.”
Earlier in October, Lacy went 12 for 31 carriesm and finished the season with 273 carries, the highest in the SEC.
The severity of Lacy's injury still remains unclear, and if his injury doesn't allow him to play on New Year's, Georgia will have a massive advantage.
When they previously met, the RB was the only reason Ole Miss's out-of-fuel offense was still moving the ball in the fourth quarter, one where Georgia went 17-0.
And as for Ole Miss, it will be a nightmare they might not be ready to deal with in College Football Playoff.
