The Ole Miss Rebels avoided suffering for someone else's actions on Tuesday night as the CFP committee didn't let the head coaching drama affect their rankings.

The Rebels moved up a spot in their No. 6 position from the previous week's No. 7 ranking in the penultimate CFP rankings.

All the Lane Kiffin drama was a huge scare, threatening to knock Ole Miss down a few spots.

However, since there was no precedent with the committee about a head coach leaving it's team right before the Playoff (only Kiffin could pull something like that), they continued rewarding Ole Miss for their incredible season.

Keith Carter proud of his team

AD Keith Carter got another chance to rub it in Kiffin's face as his comments on Ole Miss making it to the CFP were brimming with confidence.

"Obviously, our team is still intact," Carter told ESPN on Tuesday. "Our players are fired up and ready to go. We've got a great staff that's ready to roll throughout the playoff run."

"I think these guys should be judged by what they've done on the field, and 11-1, I think it speaks for itself," Carter said.

"I would hope that the committee kind of looks at the information they have and rewards these young men for an incredible season."

With that, the newly promoted Ole Miss head coach Pete Golding will be in the spotlight. The Rebels' roster is already on a roll and talented enough, so Golding won't have to worry much about their performance. Just that he needs to call winning plays, and deal with some updated positions.

As much as everyone in college football is rooting for the Rebels' successful CFP run to to claim bragging rights over Kiffin, their actual performance under Golding in a situation like this is anyone's guess right now.
