Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin has been stuck on repeat regarding the rumors of him leaving Ole Miss.
"I love it here," he says, but he is still to back those repeated words up with verbal confirmation or a contract extension with Ole Miss.
Wednesday's SEC teleconference was no different as Kiffin once again said the same thing when asked about Florida rumors.
"I’m going to stay on what I’ve done for six years, which isn’t talk about other jobs and that situation. We’re in a season that’s the greatest run in the history of Ole Miss, at this point," Kiffin said.
"We haven’t ever been at this point, so I think it’s really exciting. I think Saturday night (against Florida) was amazing. I’m just living in the moment — it’s amazing — and our players are, too. I see their joy. ... It’s just awesome to be a part of."
That's exactly what makes it a tougher pill to swallow for the Ole Miss fans. The Rebels have never gotten this close to making it to the College Football Playoff ever since the CFP era began in 2014; that's almost 12 years.
Yet, the Rebs fan can hardly relish what indeed is one of the best seasons in program history, because they don't even know if they will have a head coach by the time they make it to the Playoff.
A simple "I'm not going anywhere, not until the Playoff," is all the affirmation Ole Miss fans need right now. But it almost seems like a pipedream given how Kiffin has been with ambiguous with the rumors.
It's only time when Ole Miss fans' frustration with Kiffin's same script starts turning into raging impatience.
