Lane Kiffin, LSU this close to stealing No.1 prospect in Mississippi from Rebels

It's also a chance for Pete Golding to make a comeback.

Lane Kiffin already poached a ton of talent from Ole Miss during his exit. He then followed it up with snatching 4-star ATH Braylon Calais, who Ole Miss was trending to land.

Now, he's in the mix to steal the No. 1 Mississippi prospect and the No. 3 IOL in America + a Top-35 overall recruit, Caden Moss.

In other words, Kiffin is becoming the recruiting nightmare Pete Golding didn't sign up for.

Pete Golding needs to act fast in Caden Moss recruitment

On SI's Zach Nagy reported Moss returning to the Boot for an official visit this weekend, after two unofficial visits.

What makes it more terrifying is that Calais's commit came right after a very similar official visit to LSU. Calais and Moss were in Baton Rouge the same weekend. Then, on Monday, Calais was just sure of his future as a part of Kiffin's offense.

The mastermind recruiting move from Kiffin was a one-on-one walkthrough with both prospects. Both Kiffin and OC Charlie Weis Jr. spent time with the Cecilia (La.) 4-star ATH and his family to convince him. It was a bullseye.

The Rebels are still in the driver's seat with Moss, though, with a staggering 88.6% inside lead. But with Calais, the crystal balls did a total 180 overnight. Recruiting is the ultimate wildcard until the ink is dry on the Letter of Intent.

“Ole Miss was my first Power 4 offer. I’ve always been tight with that staff throughout my whole process, and I have a great relationship with Coach (Pete) Golding,” Moss told Rivals.

Based on Moss's words, Ole Miss is still at the table, but they need to shift into high gear if they want to close this deal before the door slams shut.
