At first, Lane Kiffin attending Ole Miss football's Sugar Bowl rematch with Georgia didn;t make sense, especially with LSU governer Jeff landry tagging along.
Looking at what Ole Miss insiders have to say, not it does.
After all the drama, Kiffin is still not done with the Rebels. His considering attending the Sugar Bowl was just a cold, calculated move with a not-so-concealed motive: poaching Golding's roster.
Ole Miss insiders expose Lane Kiffin
Matt Bowers, an Ole Miss alum and booster, told Yahoo Sports' Ross Dellenger, “You think Lane is minding his own business and meditating? Come on. I think there are kids he’ll try to get from Ole Miss."
A fact that blunt coming from a booster is enough to make the Ole Miss spit nails after becoming their permanent villain.
“It’s unfortunate what has been going on with our players and their former head coach and staff,” Ole Miss NIL collective director Walker Jones said, via Dellenger. “Having to deal with the pressure of making future decisions while trying to prepare for a playoff run is not a sustainable model.
“Yes, does a bad calendar and lack of true oversight hurt? Of course,” Jones continued. “But so does poor character and lack of respect for your former employer and players. That being said, we are prepared and effectively dealing with this first-of-its-kind, complicated situation.”
The timing also makes perfect sense. The transfer portal is set to open Jan. 2, which will be moments after the Sugar Bowl concludes.
There are already rumors of Kiffin on the lookout for Ole Miss's top players. His physical presence will only add to the transfer portal pull.
Although Dellenger's reports state Ole Miss is taking active measures to avoid any tampering, Kiffin is someone who hardly needs direct words to get his way.
His familiarity with the locker room makes the indirect poaching attempts that much easier.
Only time will tell whether Kiffin can successfully lure them away to LSU.
