Ole Miss QB Trinidad Chambliss was dealt with back-to-back heartbreaks in the Fiesta Bowl loss and a rejection for an additional year of eligibility from the NCAA.

The only difference between the two is that Chambliss is contesting the latter, and taking it to the court.

The Rebels' QB and his attorney, Tom Mars, officially filed a lawsuit against the NCAA on Friday.

Though the question of whether Chambliss could win the appeal has been a hot topic of discussion even before the lawsuit was officially filed.

Kirk Herbstreit on Trinidad Chambliss waiver

ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit discussed it on his podcast 'Non Stop' and opened up on how he still feels there is a strong chance for Chambliss to get his waiver approved in court.

"Trinidad Chambliss, he had a waiver that was denied, trying to get that extra year. His attorney Tom Mars is still very bullish on being able to get him that extra year. Now I think it's gonna go to the State of Mississippi," Herbstreit said on Monday, back when the lawsuit was still just all talk.

Even so, the ESPN insider echoed the confidence Mars has in Chambliss's case to win this one in court.

"I don't know all the details, but I do know that Tom Mars is still very confident that he is going to win this case and Trinidad Chambliss will have that extra year," Herbstreit added.

If Chambliss wins this, he will return to Ole Miss in 2026.

In Chambliss, Golding would regain his offensive cornerstone, as many senior Ole Miss players decommitted from the program on the very last day of the transfer portal.

The resilience Golding showed during Ole Miss's College Football Playoff run was proof enough that he will bounce back with the program next season, but having Chambliss could be his key to retaining the elite status they earned this season.
