Everyone in Oxford is waiting for Lane Kiffin to say the words they already know will be coming out of his mouth during his official announcement.

Kiffin's demand to still coach Ole Miss in the College Football Playoff is the last hold-up.

The chance of Ole Miss budging on that is next to zero.

Mississippi elected official voices Ole Miss's opinion

Mississippi Secretary of State Michael Watson endorsed Mike Farrell's (of Mike Farrell Sports) no-nonsense opinion on Kiffin suffocating any chances of deserving to coach the Rebels in the Playoff because he "quit" on them.

"Anyone who thinks Ole Miss should let this guy coach his team if he announces he’s leaving is just delusional. Finish what he started? He’s quitting. C’mon, Booger McFarland, think about it," Farrell wrote on X, to which Watson quote-tweeted with a famous gif of The Office character Andy "The Nard Dog" Bernard saying "nailed it."

Watson saw the red flags a mile away and did not hesitate in calling them out, either, when Kiffin started actively evading all the rumors a couple of weeks back.

"At some point, it’d be nice for our current coach to reciprocate the love and gratitude shown by our administration, players, fan base, and collective. It just shouldn’t be this hard," Watson said of Kiffin.

Those words sound much more real now. The Ole Miss fans believed in the possibility of Kiffin choosing Ole Miss till the very end, despite how brashly Kiffin ignored stating his loyalty all along.

The resentment that will now rise in the Sip after how Kiffin has been handling his reported exit will definitely be much more intense than that belief.
