The day Lane Kiffin finally puts an end to every question about him staying or leaving with Ole Miss might come sooner than expected.
The Lane Kiffin drama has reached it's breaking point, and it is only about time before either of the Rebels' or LSU fanbases finally snaps from all the nervous anticipation.
Ole Miss AD Keith Carter promising a decisive statement on Saturday managed to contain that storm for a bit longer. However, per the latest report, the decision could come well before Saturday.
“Sources at Ole Miss have said clarity on Kiffin’s future could come on Wednesday or Thursday, but nothing is expected to be formally announced until Saturday," Pete Nakos reported per Newsweek.
“I won’t be surprised to see something leak on Friday morning,” a source told Nakos.
The announcement getting leaked on the morning of, or before Egg Bowl, would cause an unimaginable type of chaos.
Kiffin's decision whittled down to staying at Ole Miss or going to LSU after the Tigers offered a deal north of $90 million, plus $25 million in NIL investments, to Kiffin during their bye week.
Ole Miss was also reportedly ready to break the bank with identical contract to make Kiffin stay.
But any of that shouldn't be the primary focus in the rivalry week. It should be the Egg Bowl and that's the whole point.
Whenever the news does break, it will send waves across the college football realm, and it will be a hire affecting this season's coaching carousel the most.
