Pete Golding is building a staff prepared for another College Football Payoff run, one Mississippi coach at a time.

Over the weekend, Golding added a pair of hires to his top-to-bottom staff makeover in the post-Lane Kiffin era.

Golding has orchestrated the staff transition since Kiffin poached Charlie Weis Jr. and other key staffers to LSU. The Ole Miss head coach already had new hires in the building before the ink was dry on the resignations, from the coaches and coordinators to the front office and recruiting specialists.

Now, after getting another massive win in the Trinidad Chambliss injunction, Golding welcomed two new coaches to his staff Tuesday.

Ole Miss football hires have a unique connection

The Rebels officially hired Miami Hurricanes tight ends coach Cody Woodiel as the program's next co-offensive coordinator.

Along with him, Delta State head coach Todd Cooley has also switched to Oxford as the program's next Director of High School Relations.

What particularly stands out in the hires is the obvious connection with the Sip; Woodiel is a Hernando (Miss.) native, whereas Cooley has led his previous program for 13 years, calling it his home.

Both coaches are coming off impressive personal records, setting the epxectations from them in the Grove sky-high.

Woodiel, the former Miami TE coach, just accompanied the Hurricanes to their National Championship appearance after beating Ole Miss in the semi-finals.

Cooley, on the other hand, boasts an 82-49 record, four appearances in the NCAA Division II playoffs, three Gulf South Conference titles, and three Coach of the Year.

Both hires will now coach the Rebels in punching a ticket to the national championship this season.
