Pete Golding is clawing back at Lane Kiffin's LSU even before Kiffin had a chance to execute his threat.

Lane Kiffin left Oxford with a warning of stealing Ole Miss's staff, and Pete Golding seems to have taken it more seriously than Kiffin himself.

Golding started the efforts to retain his staff the moment he put on the head coach hat. Then came the getting of his staffers back for the College Football Playoff, who had already gone to LSU.

All while he was already building a staff for the post-CFP era. The new Rebels' head coach had already made key hires in JD Baker and Washington, but he was not done just there.

Golding takes from Kiffin what he threatened Ole Miss of

On Sunday, Ole Miss is set to name LSU interim head coach Frank Wilson as their running backs coach, per On3's Pete Nakos.

However, the hire will reportedly happen once LSU is done and dusted with the Texas Bowl on Dec. 27.

It won't be a new place altogether for Wilson, since he has previously worked at Ole Miss from 2005-07 as running backs and special teams coach.

Best part for Ole Miss fans? This is not the only LSU hire the Rebels expect.

More LSU hires on the way

247 Sports' Chase Parham reported that Golding also has his eyes set on getting LSU general manager Austin Thomas back to Ole Miss.

It would be a homecoming of sorts for Thomas as well, after he served as the Rebels' football chief of staff and sports administrator in 2022 and 2023.

Kiffin is still drawing up a heist; Golding has already cleared the vault.
