Ole Miss fans are understandably baffled by the current way-too-early 2027 mock drafts. How does the SEC’s top returning signal-caller—a guy who would’ve been a Day 1 lock in 2026—suddenly slip to QB4 in next year's projections? The math just isn't mathing.

Mock drafts can speculate all they want, though, just look at how they whiffed on De'Zhaun Stribling. But NFL teams know the score, and by the time Round 1 rolls around next April, expect a bidding war to trade up for Chambliss.

Pete Golding on Trinidad Chambliss's leadership

Pete Golding will be the one enjoying it all with a front row seat and a fresh batch of popcorn since he's been coaching him since the day he transferred to the Sip.

And if there's one thing Golding knows about Chambliss is that he's going to make an excellent leader. The type of leader that makes up the DNA of an NFL cornerstone.

“I think you’re talking about a kid that came Division II into the SEC knowing we had our guy already, with one year left potentially at that point,” Golding said of Chambliss.

“So the kid bets on himself, and he does everything the right way. And I think he earned our team’s trust last summer without being the guy. People naturally gravitate to him."

Whichever franchise lands Chambliss is getting more than a QB; they're getting a fan-favorite superstar who packs stadiums to the rafters. And that’s not even touching upon the leadership he brings to the locker room.

“But the kid’s competitive character. You see it on TV, but we get to see it every day, and guys want to be around him. He doesn’t ask anything of them that he doesn’t do. He’s in the building all the time. Joe Judge does an unbelievable job with him. J.D.B. is transitioning with him. That’s been really good to see throughout the spring. But he’s a kid who loves football. He’s tough, he’s competitive, and his teammates want to play for him.”

With Chambliss’s stock already soaring, the Rebel Nation is officially the fandom awaiting the 2027 NFL Draft the most.
