Pete golding has never been the one to sweat over small stuff. The guy doesn't even want to sweat over the big stuff.

Ole Miss's clash with LSU is slated to be the biggest, grandest showdown of the season. Yet, Golding isn’t losing a wink of sleep over it, and he doesn't want Ole Miss fans to either.

Pete Golding asks one thing from Rebel Nation

Or as he particularly puts it, "stop focusing on the wrong s**t."

"We start worrying about the LSU game and everybody’s talking about it and all that. You'd better worry about Louisville. Right? And you better worry about what you’re doing right now and the development of every day and what you’re putting into it," Golding said Monday, explaining how the business-as-usual mentality is what Ole Miss fans need right now at the pivotal crossroads the Rebels are at this point in the offseason.

Ole Miss just made program history making it to the CFP semifinals for the first time, yet had the second-worst NFL Draft class in program history.

2026 is going to be the first complete season under Golding. Things are looking incredibly promising, but things could still go sideways. That's why the Ole Miss head coach preached taking it one game at a time and not obsessing over things they can't control. Like how many players get drafted or how to beat down LSU.

"So I think it’s all what you put focus on and what you put attention on. But we’re not circling a game for us because we do feel like we’re talented enough that if we do it the right way and prepare the right way and practice the right way, that if we don’t beat ourselves, we’ll have a shot," Golding concluded.

Ole Miss starts its season against Louisville on Sep. 6.
