Impermeable is what would be the best to describe Ole Miss football in the College Football Playoff.
Lane Kiffin's exit left the rest of the SEC shaken, but not Ole Miss. The Rebels roster was as strong as they came; Pete Golding just made it even more untouchable.
Everyone had their reservations about Golding as the head coach entering the College Football Playoff; every single one of those ended when Golding's squad once again crushed Tulane in a landslide 41-10 win on Saturday.
“I was just excited for them to put everything behind them, get back out on the grass, and do what they love to do,” Golding told the TNT broadcast crew on the sidelines post-win.
“They created a great opportunity for themselves and came out and responded how I thought they would.”
“They’re the same guys that we recruited,” he said. “It’s a group that enjoys playing together, so we knew we were playing for another opportunity, and we don’t want it to end.”
There was a brief injury scare with Trinidad Chambliss and Kewan Lacy, but fortunately, both returned to the second half, and continued dominating the Green Wave.
Golding proved every single doubt about his offensive strategy false, as Ole Miss finished off the showdown with a whooping 346 passing yards, averaging 7.3 yards per play, compared to Tulane's 5.9.
Trinidad Chambliss, Kewan Lacy shine
Chambliss, as usual, was the star of the show, finishing just shy of 300 passing yards, two rushing and one passing touchdowns.
Kewan Lacy did what he does best; kept the momentum alive all along with his 15 carries for 87 yards and a touchdown.
Ole Miss faces Georgia next in their quest towards the final stage, the National Championship.
