3 Ole Miss football games I'm particularly looking forward to in 2024

Every Ole Miss football game is worth looking forward to for different reasons. However, I'm especially looking forward to watching these three games in 2024.

We have just entered July, the last month without a live college football game. We are close people. Ole Miss has a schedule with different levels of excitement surrounding each game, from the out-of-conference games to the big rivalry ones.

Ole Miss fans will differ in which games they are looking forward to seeing the most. However, here are the three I can't wait to watch.

vs. Kentucky - Sept. 26

It's not the tailgating time we all wanted for the first SEC game, with the 11 a.m. CT kick-off an early one. However, the Grove will be alive with color and noise and a serving of breakfast: sausage biscuits with cheese grits, the breakfast of champions.

On to the game, and with the Rebels likely being 4-0 heading into this first SEC game, attention will be on the team due to the hype at the start of the season. Kentucky will offer a good test for Ole Miss, with their potentially high-powered offense in good swing after four weeks of competitive play.

Rebel fans have been waiting for this game since the Peach Bowl win over Penn State. As we headed into 2024, we knew Lane Kiffin was cooking up something. The stadium will be full, ready for the team to put on a show.

@ LSU - Oct. 12

Can Ole Miss record back-to-back wins over LSU? The last time we recorded consecutive wins over the Tigers was in the 2008-2009 seasons. Not only is that record against us, but LSU has a 27-5 home record during the last five seasons. Also, this game is a night game, making it a more challenging atmosphere.

Saying all that, what a game this is set to be and what a chance for Ole Miss to make a statement during the 2024 season. Recording a win under the lights in Baton Rouge is no easy feat, and Ole Miss will need to be as good as advertised during the off-season to do just that.

Both teams could be 5-0, which adds another potential layer to this game, not that the Magnolia Bowl needs one. Games like these are why we get excited for college football action through the off-season.

vs. Oklahoma - Oct. 26

The Georgia game is huge for Ole Miss. However, I'm looking forward to seeing one of the new teams in the SEC. After the LSU game, Ole Miss will have a well-timed bye week before playing Oklahoma, looking to welcome them Hotty Toddy style.

The game has just become a little bit more spicy thanks to a mini back-and-forth on social media between Sooners defensive back Billy Bowman Jr. and Rebels quarterback Jaxson Dart.

Everyone is looking at the LSU and Georgia games as the ones Ole Miss could drop. However, the timing of this Oklahoma game comes at a crucial point in the season. With Georgia a few weeks after, whatever the result against LSU, winning this game could be vital to a playoff spot. It's another early game, but the fans will be pumped for this one.
