Five-star point guard Mikel Brown Jr., an Overtime Elite prospect, has been hearing from several programs trying to get him on campus for visits. Ole Miss is one of them, and Chris Beard is working to get Brown Jr. to Oxford.

Brown Jr. is ranked the No. 2 point guard and No. 12 player from the 2025 class per 247Sports Composite Rankings. He has heard from programs such as Ole Miss, Louisville, Indiana, Texas, Alabama, Villanova, and Illinois.

Mikel Brown Jr. played on the same team at Overtime Elite as current Ole Miss commit John Bol. They both played together last season for the Cold Hearts. Bol was a 2024 commit for Chris Beard and the Rebels and was a four-star rated recruit. Beard will be hoping Bol can also help with recruiting Brown Jr.

247Sports Ole Miss insider David Johnson put a crystal ball back on February 2, predicting Mikel Brown Jr. would commit to Ole Miss. That has yet to materialize, but the Rebels are near the front regarding his commitment.

Ole Miss has the No.3 class in the early stages of the 2025 recruiting class. Chris Beard and his staff have commitments from two four-star recruits, Patton Pinkins and Tylis Jordan. Both players are among the top 100 ranked prospects and in the top 5 of the highest basketball recruits in program history.

The Rebels are still in a good place with several high prospects as Chris Beard looks to deliver the program's best recruiting class.

After a successful year one with Ole Miss, Beard is looking to take another giant stride in year 2, on and off the court. Recruiting is going well for the future, and adding a top-rated transfer portal class has them looking to be competitive on the court for the 2024-25 season.

It's hard not to see similarities between Lane Kiffin's first two seasons with the football program and Chris Beard's work with the basketball one. It's exciting times down at the Pavilion.
