Ole Miss has a deep room full of talent at wide receiver. Tre Harris and Antwane Wells Jr. are two of them. Both players have made the 247Sports top-20 wide receivers in the country.
In 2023, Ole Miss were exciting on offense, especially through the air. The Rebels had three wide receivers produce over 700-yard receiving seasons in 2023. One of them was Tre Harris, who returns along with quarterback Jaxson Dart for one more season in Oxford.
Harris and South Carolina transfer Antwane Wells Jr. made 247Sports Brad Crawford's top-25 list, with Wells Jr. ranked 20 and Harris ranked 5.
Ole Miss' Passing Offense Expected To Be Explosive In 2024
The Rebels' offense has already been ranked as one of the best in college football heading into the 2024 season. It's easy to see why, with talented players and play callers in head coach Lane Kiffin and OC Charier Weis Jr.
In his first season, Harris was a bonafide playmaker for the Rebels. If the offense needed a big play, it usually involved throwing in the direction of Harris. His stats showed that averaging 18.2 yards per catch and ranked 10th in yards per route with 3.17 per PFFs advanced analytics.
Caden Prieskorn was ranked 27, using the same metric in 2023. Wells Jr. missed nearly all of the 2023 season. However, in 2022. he ranked 56, averaging 2.46 yards per route, just ahead of LSU receiver Malik Nabers.
Along with Jordan Watkins as the third receiver and others, this passing game will be fun to watch during the season.
Could We See a Huge Leap From Quarterback Jaxson Dart In Year 3?
Jaxson Dart has progressed massively from year 1 to year 2 in a Rebels uniform. As we likely enter the final season of Jaxson at Ole Miss before he departs for the NFL, what kind of leap could we see in year 3?
The 2024 season will see Dart and OC Charlie Weis Jr. work together for the third year. Dart will be more comfortable than ever with the system heading into year 3.
Ole Miss should see a much improved offensive line in 2024, with a handful of great commitments from the transfer portal. Despite Dart being able to move out of the pocket and make plays, having time to stay in there is beneficial. If Dart can feel comfortable staying in the pocket, expect more big-time throws from the fourth-year player.
