Ole Miss football makes 2026 quarterback Dereon Coleman's top 8 schools

The quarterback room at Ole Miss has been ranked one of the best in the nation. Although the Rebels' future looks bright for the next several years, bringing in more quarterbacks is still a must in the ever-changing college football environment.

The Ole Miss quarterback room looks secure for at least the next three seasons. However, a college football program is always looking further down the line, recruiting players two to three years from today.

With plenty of quarterbacks from the 2026 class as potential suitors for the Rebels, they have made an impression on one of the top 25 in the class.

Four-star quarterback Dereon Coleman released his top 8 schools on June 6, with Ole Miss making the cut. The Florida native had the Rebels, with Arkansas, Illinois, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, TCU, and UCF as potential schools he is considering.

It's only early in recruitment sites' rankings of the 2026 class, though Dereon Coleman is seen as a four-star recruit by On3s Industry Ranking. ESPN has yet to give him a ranking, but he still sits at the No. 23 quarterback in the country as of June 7.

If Ole Miss has Coleman as a top target, they will need to push hard to convince him that Oxford is his home. Oklahoma is the heavy favorite to land the Florida quarterback, and the Sooners' coaching staff has made a big impression on Coleman.

Embarrassment of riches at quarterback for Ole Miss

With the 2024 season being the final season for Jaxson Dart at Ole Miss before he enters the 2025 NFL Draft, what are the options next season?

Well, Lane Kiffin is sitting pretty with the players he has in the quarterback room. Former five-star 2022 recruit Walker Howard was the backup in 2023 after transferring to Ole Miss from LSU. He will likely battle 2023 recruit and two-sport athlete Austin Simmons, who the Rebels are very high on.

2024 four-star recruit Anthony Maddox will be looking to battle the loser of the starter's job as backup for the 2025 season. Ole Miss is working to flip 2025 quarterback Deuce Knight, who is currently committed to Notre Dame. Both Maddox and Knight are Mississippi recruits.

Kiffin will be happy with how he has shaped his quarterback room for the next 3-4 seasons. Still, he is looking for more top recruits in future classes to add to one of the best quarterback rooms in the country.
