Ole Miss to travel to four of the toughest places to play, according to EA Sports' latest news
If you are a fan of the EA Sports College Football game franchise, the July 19 release is just a few weeks away. EA is dropping little tidbits daily regarding stats, ratings, and other exciting information this week.
Yesterday, they released the top 25 toughest places to play college football. Aside from controversy regarding Texas A&M's Kyle Filed being number one, 12 SEC schools made the list. Ole Miss was not one of them, but I believe if EA had attended the home game against LSU last season, they might have thought differently.
One thing that did stand out was if you believe the rankings are correct, the Rebels will be on the road at four of the loudest stadiums in college football.
23. Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium - Arkansas
Ole Miss will travel to Fayetteville in week 10 to face Arkansas, the week after a tricky home game against Oklahoma. Aside from the games in Little Rock, the Rebels are 2-11 when playing at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. Their last win was a 23-21 victory in 2008.
Regarding atmospheres, the Razorback fans know how to bring it, regardless of what sport they are watching. The potential good news for Ole Miss is that it will be played in the early kick-off window, meaning it won't be the same rowdiness as a night game.
15. Williams-Brice Stadium - South Carolina
The first conference road game comes at South Carolina's Williams-Brice Stadium, the No. 15 loudest stadium according to EA Sports. Ole Miss has only played in Columbia, SC, eight times, holding a 4-4 record. They last played in 2009, with the Gamecocks winning 16-10.
This is a flex game, meaning it could land in the afternoon or a night game. A night game at the Williams-Brice Stadium is always difficult and would be a new experience for Lane Kiffin and his team.
10. Ben Hill Griffin Stadium - Florida
The Swamp is not fun to visit when Florida plays well. However, the Gators are tipped to be mediocre in the 2024 season, which doesn't mean it will be a guaranteed win for Ole Miss. They travel to the Ben Hill Griffin Stadium during the penultimate game of the season before the Egg Bowl.
Ole Miss holds a winning record when playing in Gainesville, winning six, losing four, and one tie. The last time they played at the Swamp, Florida won 38-10, with Ole Miss last winning in 2008. Another potentially lucky break, with this slated for a noon ET kick-off.
3. Tiger Stadium - LSU
The week 7 encounter between Ole Miss and LSU in Baton Rouge will guarantee a top-three atmosphere. If we have anything like the game we saw in Oxford last season, we are in for fireworks. The game at Tiger Stadium will be the Rebel's only guaranteed night game in 2024.
Only a few teams have a pleasing record at Tiger Stadium, with Ole Miss not one of them. Since 2000, the Rebels hold a 2-10 record when playing in Baton Rouge. 2008 was a good season for road wins, with that being the last time they beat LSU at Tiger Stadium..
