Ole Miss is playing with the biggest chip on their shoulder, and they have nothing to lose. That makes them a different type of beast entering the SEC Tournament.
Texas is likely to bear the brunt of it. With their bubble status hanging by a thread, the Longhorns are the team with the most to lose in Nashville.
Sean Miller spells out team's weakness for Ole Miss
And the worst of it all, Texas head coach Sean Miller might have handed Chris Beard the key to pulling off the upset on Day 1.
"We have some limitations on that (defensive) side of the ball, it is what is, I think you see that by a lot of the fouls we commit," Miller said postgame.
"I think those are the things throughout the season that we've not been able to do," he continued, expressing his frustration with his team's inability to find stops and make crucial plays.
Texas's posted one of its best defensive effort in just one game in particular this whole season, and it was against an Ole Miss whose wheels were coming off just as bad.
In the 79-68 home win, the Longhorns held the Rebels to 41.4% shooting from the field and a 29.2% clip (7-for-24) on 3-point attempts.
"We have to just really keep flipping the coin. I've said this to you guys for about three months," Miller added.
So, if they were able to hold off the Rebels one time, what's stopping them from another?
It is going to be exactly the type of grudge match that head coaches save a few bullets in their chamber for. Not only will the Rebels be looking for revenge for their regular-season loss, but they will also make every attempt to create as much wreckage in the bracket as they can in the SEC Tournament.
Another thing that surges the Rebel Nation's hopes for an upset win is their win over Auburn. After a gut-wrenching 10-game skid, the Tigers' defensive woes were exactly the shortcoming they exploited to pull off the win.
Coming off a humbling regular-season finale week, Texas seemed to be losing its rhythm against Arkansas and Oklahoma. If they can't find it back, Ole Miss is surely going to exploit the fracture and make every attempt to advance to Day 2.
