The classic Egg Bowl matchup between the Ole Miss Rebels (8-2) and the Mississippi State Bulldogs (9-0) now has a time slate. It was announced yesterday that the Egg Bowl will have a 2:30 p.m. CST kickoff, and the game will of course be aired on CBS.
At one point, this game had the potential to be the winner’s ticket to the College Football Playoffs. It still has that potential. It everything in the coming weeks goes Ole Miss’ way, we could still see this game as a SEC West Divisional Title game. If that unfolds, without a doubt, we will witness the greatest Egg Bowl in history. Regardless, if the game doesn’t receive that magnitude of a factor, the rivalry is always intense, and we could expect nothing less than a hard-fought matchup.

I love the kickoff time. For the past few seasons, the Egg has been night games, and we all know there is a difference between night games and day games. The last time the Egg Bowl was contested in an afternoon time, the Rebels shutout the Bulldogs in 2009, by the score of 45-0. This led to the firing of Mississippi State head coach Sylvester Croom.
We will be giving you all of the coverage of the upcoming game. We will be joining up with MaroonAndWhiteNation.com for a preview week soon. You definitely don’t want to miss that.
