Ranking the 2016 Ole Miss Football Schedule by Threat Level
By Randy Morgan
4.Texas A&M Aggies | Threat Level: High
The Aggies are one of the most underrated teams in the SEC in my opinion. I do think that Kevin Sumlin has squandered some great talent as of late, but with Trevor Knight and Speedy Noil leading the offense, the Aggies should be in tip-top shape.
If you look at the Aggies offense in the past, it has been a well-oiled machine. But, last season was different. The Aggies OEI last season was -.07, which was 67th in the country. The Aggies were ranked 4th and 13th in the nation in OEI in 2013 and 2014.
One problem the Aggies have had is finding a quarterback. After Johnny Football flamed out in the NFL, he was the star of the Aggies. After Manziel, Kenny Hill was supposed to take over, but he ended up transferring. Kyle Allen then stepped in as the Aggies QB, he too transferred.
So what is the problem here? Is it Kevin Sumlin? The young-minded coach came in and blew down the door at A&M, bringing in 5-star recruits with him. But now, the coach is on the hot seat. Why? Well, a lot of it is because his team seems to under perform when they need to.
In games that were a toss-up between Sumlin and his opponent, he is an SEC worst 17-21.
The Aggies return 6 starters on offense and defense.

At quarterback, they welcome in former Oklahoma QB Trevor Knight. Knight will be the starter for the Aggies. He has one season to play in College Station.
The Aggies return James White in the backfield. White ran for 3.6 yards per carry on 55 carries last season.
At wide receiver, the A&M returns Christian Kirk, Ricky Seals-Jones, Josh Reynolds, and Speedy Noil. A talented team of receivers for their new quarterback.
They did lose their top offensive lineman to the NFL last season, Germain Ifedi. The RT was an anchor on the Aggie line.
On the defense, there is only one name you need to know, Myles Garrett. Garrett is a first round pick in the 2017 NFL draft, barring any injuries.
Outside of Garrett, the defense is suspect. Armani Watts is a solid DB, but outside of him, the defense looks like one that could get torched this season.
The fun part of the Aggies to watch is the special teams units. Christian Kirk returning the ball on kickoffs is one of the funnest things a fan of football can do.
