Derrick Jones

More from Ole Miss Football

Selected as the 204th overall pick in the 6th round of the 2017 NFL Draft, Derrick Jones will be playing football for the New York Jets. Derrick was the ideal player at Ole Miss. Ole Miss football fans have seen him play on both sides of the ball as DB and WR.

While at Ole Miss, Derrick was exciting to watch and put up relatively good numbers on both sides of the ball. He obviously saw more quality playing time at the DB position and always looked far more comfortable on that side of the ball.

Why?

Derrick is tall, fast and very athletic. His experience at WR will be very beneficial for him as a NFL defensive back. His length and speed make him a great cover guy and his height and vertical allow him to play balls at their highest point.

Derrick will be fun to watch in the NFL. This was a minor surprise but not exactly what we saw coming very late in the draft. Congrats and thanks for the memories. Good luck in New York and Hotty Toddy!
