This was the one special part of the game the other night. Thanks to Gary Wunderlich we didn’t have to face the shutout part of the 66-3 drumming. At the 2:42 mark of the first quarter Gary Wunderlich connected on a 26 yard FG.
Of course, Will Gleason and Mac Brown shared punting duties and combined for 9 punts. Luke Logan handled the 2 kickoffs in the game.
Ole Miss special teams played well and was able to limit the big returns on punts and kickoffs. On the other side of the coin, the return game against Bama was solid with Jaylon Jones returning 6 kicks for 84 yards.
For the most part the special teams is solid when you put them up against Saban’s special teams. It could have been much uglier with even just one miscue. With Wunderlich back on point with his FG efforts they graded out really well. Coach Peveto should be proud here. We will talk more about his grades on the next page.
