Marquis Haynes has already etched his name in the record books at Ole Miss. While part of Ole Miss football he set the modern era Ole Miss records for sacks with 32 and TFL with 47.5. He didn’t just break the previous records he shattered them. Haynes is also a leader on the field and was a Chuck Mullins award winner.
Although relatively undersized for a DE at 6’3 and 230 lbs, Haynes has the speed to be brutal at the DE position. However, he is sized more towards being a stand-up DE or OLB at the next level. At the combine, Haynes weighed in at a heavy 235 lbs and was the smallest defensive lineman in the combine. Haynes competed in all of the activities on slate and performed exceptionally well.
Haynes ran an official 40-yard time in 4.67 with a 10-yard split of 1.67 while navigating the 3 cone in 7.14. Marquis Haynes had 23 reps on the bench with a 32″ vertical and 10’3 broad jump. Haynes had one of the best combines among the defensive linemen present. Haynes may not actually play at the DE position in the NFL because of his size but he is worth a draft pick at the OLB/DPR simply because of his speed and athleticism.
