The SEC West

More from Ole Miss Football

Every season in the SEC we all know the team which will be at the top. Even the recent years Bama has taken regular season losses from the Rebels they moved on to the National Championship game. Will Bama be No.1 in the SEC West when 2018 is over?

We really have to play wait and see but so far they have been very hard to take down. Nick Saban has managed to build a football dynasty and it looks very solid. There are questions the Tide will have to answer in some key areas. One of those surround a power struggle at quarterback. I believe regardless of which plays the Tide will be very tough. No.1 in the SEC West goes to Alabama.

Everybody Else

It has to be hard being little brother in your home state but that is just what this next team is. Each season friends and families are split between two schools in the state of Alabama. Gus Malzahn is a very good coach who has an offensive system which is very effective withe the talent Auburn has. No.2 goes to Auburn.

No.3 goes to the most potent offense in the SEC when it comes to total yardage. Matt Luke and Phil Longo have already proven this offense works very well in the SEC . Now, with an entire season for Jordan Ta’amu to show out this team will be much better. Besides OHT already projected Ole Miss football would have 9 wins this season so you can do the math.

The Darkhorses

No.4 goes to another little brother but this one is in OUR state. Miss State has managed to become a torn in the side of may teams in the SEC West so you know the program is getting better each season. With Cousin Eddie’s somewhat shady departure from the patch the pups wound up with a new head coach. How will Joe Moorhead’s Penn State offense translate into SEC play remains to be seen but for now we aren’t sold.

This next team is one who could actually surprise people outside of the state of Louisiana. No.5 goes to LSU because of Ed Orgeron and his defense. If LSU can replace the talent they lost then they may actually make it hard for the rest of the SEC. No.6 goes to Texas A&M. They have Jimbo Fisher as the new head coach in College Station and he is a great coach. Why are the Aggies ranked so low when they have so much talent? Look at the first season he had at FSU and he been there for a number of years.

The Cellar

Oh I love the smell of bacon! No.7 at the bottom of the SEC West barrel goes to Arkansas. Yes, they really are that bad which is why they have a new head coach who did marginally well with the talent he had there. The Hogs may get back to the top one day but it won’t be this season. The Razorbacks may win a big game this season but they are so bad even 4th and 25 won’t help them.
