No.3 Rushing Offense

More from Ole Hotty Toddy

In 2017 the Longo offense only churned out 1,607 yards on the ground averaging 133.9 yards per game. The Rebels did score 19 TDs on the ground last season and had a 1000 yard rusher.

Just because Ole Miss football had a 1000 rusher last season doesn’t entirely mean we will this season for a couple of reasons. One, Jordan Wilkins is gone to the NFL. Two, there is no clear-cut replacement at this point in time although it does seem the slight favorite is 2018 signee Scottie Phillips.

Also in the arsenal are juniors D’Vaughn Pennamon and Eric Swinney each who had a number of carries in 2017. Pennamon had 53 carries for 217 yards and 2 TDs while  Swinney had 41 carries for 195 yards and 3 TDs. One interesting off-season move has been Armani Linton being moved from defensive-back to running-back. Linton played running-back in high school and had a great spring out of the Rebels backfield. Who takes over the premier running-back spot in the Longo offense? Right now we have real hard evidence of who it could be.
