Ole Miss Football: Five Rebels set to Show Out in Senior Seasons
With excitement for the 2018 Ole Miss football season building Ole Hotty Toddy is looking at five Rebels who are set to show out in their senior seasons.
As we head into the 2018 Ole Miss football Ole Hotty Toddy has been focusing on five players from each class. While we want the entire Ole Miss Rebels team to achieve success in the 2018 season we know it will come down to each Rebels player having their own level of success on the field. So far we’ve focused on five Rebels from the new faces on the team, the red-shirt freshmen, sophomores and juniors. Each class contains Rebels we essentially want to see have big seasons.
Of course, experience means a lot in the game of football and usually there are senior players who have had major quality playing time. The Rebels have a number of senior starters on both sides of the ball who are greatly depended upon. These are the players you know have to have big seasons at their positions for the Rebels to achieve overall success during the season. These are also the leaders on the team and have a lot riding on their final season.
While we hope all of our seniors have a wonderful seasons there are those whose success is vital and those are the Rebels players we are focusing on here. If these five seniors can show out in 2018 then it is very likely Ole Miss can achieve great success. Since we know we need the most help on defense we’ll begin on that side of the ball.

Will we see the return of the Landshark Defense in the 2018 season? We have to believe coach Wesley McGriff will field a much better defense this season with better depth and experience at some key positions in both the secondary and the defensive line. We look at three Rebels at those two position groups who are really primed to have outstanding senior seasons for Ole Miss in 2018.
Victor Evans at defensive end has become a solid threat off the edge for opposing offenses. Although Evans missed much of the 2017 season due to an injury and only saw action in 5 games he still had 18 tackles, 5 TFL and 0.5 sack. Evans has had a good fall camp and appears to have the defensive end position locked down. Another senior set to show out in 2018 is corner-back Ken Webster. In 2017 Webster tallied 29 tackles, 1.5 TFL and 2 pass break-ups. Webster has had a good fall camp despite hamstring issues.
Another defensive back who we can expect to show out in 2018 is free safety CJ Moore the 2018 Chucky Mullins Award Winner. Moore played in 11 games in 2017 making 6 starts with 5 starts coming at free safety. Moore finished the season with 51 tackles, 2.5 TFL, 3 INTs and 2 pass break-ups. Over the years there has been a history of past Chucky Mullins Award Winners having great seasons. Ole Miss football fans can expect CJ Moore to carry on the tradition in 2018.
Senior Rebels On Offense
With the Phil Longo offense Rebels fans pretty much know what they are getting in 2018. Without a doubt the Rebels offense will one of the very best in the nation in 2018. One element of the most prolific offense in the nation which excites fans most is the NWO and the talent receivers which make up the group. DaMarkus Lodge is one NWO member who should have a huge senior season. In 2017 Lodge caught 41 passes for 698 yards and 7 TDs. Lodge is a clutch receiver for the Rebels who if he should see a lot of targets in 2018 could put up huge numbers.
When it comes to the Ole Miss offense there isn’t a better fit at the QB position than Jordan Ta’amu. Ta’amu is very versatile and is a dual-threat in the Ole Miss offense able to use his legs and arm to tear up opposing defenses. In 2017 we saw Ta’amu step up and take over the team as a back-up and he was very good. Ta’amu finished the season completing 115 of 173 attempts for 1,682 yards and 11 TDs while only throwing 4 INTs. Jordan also had 165 yards rushing and 4 TDs on the ground. As a starter for the Rebels in 2018 Jordan is set to have a huge season which could see records broken.
Ole Miss football fans are excited to see all of our Rebels in action and hope they all have very successful seasons. We know the seniors we’ve named here are all set to have huge show out seasons and we wish them the best in 2018. Good luck to all the Ole Miss seniors in the 2018 Ole Miss football season. Hotty Toddy!
