No.7 Vanderbilt Commodores (2-0)

More from Ole Miss Football

Vanderbilt repeats in the No.7 spot after week-two of the 2018 season. While Vandy is 2-0 they really haven’t played anybody. Vandys two wins have come 35-7 over Middle Tennessee State and 41-10 over Nevada. We all know Vandy is on the cusp of a good season but at this time we really don’t have any real proof of it being in 2018.

Naturally Dores fans are excited about the defensive side of the ball. Thru their two wins the Dores defense has allowed only 17 points and have yet to allow a rushing TD. The Vandy defense has only allowed 544 yards of offense but their issues may lie on the offensive side of the ball against top-tier opponents. Vandy will be action this week as they travel to No.8 Notre Dame (2-0).

No.6 Tennessee Volunteers (1-1)

The No.6 spot in OHT’s power rankings belongs to Tennessee for the second week. After a week-one 40-14 loss to West Virgina the Vols were able to enjoy a 59-3 home win over Tennessee State. Naturally Vols fans are excited about Jeremy Pruitt and after the recent history with coaches they should be. However, this will be a tough season for Pruitt based on what we’ve seen thru two-games. So far the Vols have allowed 741 yards of total offense thru two game with 547 yards allowed in the season opener. Yes that may be against West Virgina but the Vols will see that plenty in SEC play. For now we have to see more. Tennessee will be facing UTEP (0-2) this Saturday in Knoxville.

No.5 (25) Florida Gators (1-1)

The No.25 Florida Gators fell 27-16 to the Kentucky Wildcats in Gainesville this past Saturday. Florida had come off a solid 59-3 week-one win over Charleston Southern and snuck their way into the Top25. Did Florida underestimate Mark Stoops and the Wildcats? Sure they did and the Wildcats made them pay for it. The Gators defense who gave up 222 yards on the ground in week-one followed it up by allowing 303 yards on the ground from the Cats. The Gators have the talent and should have the coaching to be better but it seems it may not be soon. We watch to see what the Gators do this Saturday as they host Colorado State (1-2).
