Ole Miss Football: Rebels Rally To Get Win In Little Rock

Ole Miss football made the trip to Little Rock and the Rebels rallied to get their first SEC win over the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Ole Miss football (5-2, 1-2) was back in action Saturday night as they faced the Arkansas Razorbacks (1-6, 0-4) on the road. The Rebels entered match-up coming off a huge homecoming win over ULM while the Hogs were coming off a home loss to Alabama. On a rainy Saturday night the Rebels had to fight their way to a 37-33 comeback win.

Ole Miss got on the board first with a 36-yard Luke Logan field-goal but fell behind early and were down 17-3 at the end of the first quarter. The Rebels found the end-zone with a 8 yard run by quarterback Jordan Ta’amu to cut the Hogs lead to 17-10 but the Rebels were down 27-10 with just under a minute left in the first half. The Rebels got in the end-zone with 33 seconds left on Jordan Ta’amu pass to DaMarkus Lodge and the Hogs led 27-17 at the half.

Arkansas scored first in the second half with a field-goal to extend the lead to 30-17. The Rebels answered with a 66 yard TD pass from Ta’amu to Octavious Cooley to cut the Hogs lead to 30-24. The Hogs added another field-goal to extend the lead to 33-24 but there would be only Rebels finding points. In the fourth quarter the Rebels scored on a 2-yard Isaiah Woullard run to cut the lead to 33-31. The Rebels finished out the scoring with a 5-yard Scottie Phillips TD run with 42 seconds left in the game to take the 37-33 lead and win.

On the night the Rebels put 611 yards to total offense on the Hogs defense. Of course, senior Jordan Ta’amu had another very impressive game going 25 of 36 for 387 yards and 2 TDs with 1 INT. Ta’amu also had 17 carries for 141 yards and 1 TD on the ground.

Leading the NWO was senior DaMarkus Lodge with 10 receptions for 80 yards and 1 TD. All-American AJ Brown had 6 receptions for 60 yards and sophomore Braylon Sanders had 3 receptions for 35 yards. Junior DK Metcalf had 1 reception for 49 yards.

The Ole Miss tight-ends stepped up big for Ta’amu and the Rebels. Junior Octavious Cooley had 2 receptions for 85 yards and 1 TD while junior Dawson Knox had 2 receptions for 65 yards. On the ground junior Scottie Phillips had 18 carries for 86 yards and 1 TD while freshman Isaiah Woullard had 2 carries for 1 yard and 1 TD.

Defensive Numbers

The Rebels defense allowed 476 yards of Hogs total offense giving up 177 thru the air and 299 yards on the ground. Senior Zedrick Woods led the Rebels with 8 tackles and had 1 INT. Senior Ken Webster had 6 tackles on the night while freshman Jacquez Jones had 5 tackles with .5 TFL. Sophomore Tariqious Tisdale also had 5 tackles and 1 sack on the night.
